The Wicker Man (1973)
The Wicker Man (1973)
I’m gonna try to say as little as possible for this review, so as to not give anything away. When you watch it, the uneasy feeling gets heavier and heavier as it goes on. It feels a lot like ‘Midsommar’, except this obviously came first. The plot is very simple: a policeman is looking for a missing girl. As for everything else, you’ll have to find that out for yourself. The look at certain Scottish culture helps amplify everything that happens in the best way possible. The songs, rituals, and costumes are fantastic. The characters were great, with a very friendly vibe but also a vibe that’s very….off. That’s all I’m gonna hint at. In fact, I’m still so thrilled with this movie that I’m stopping here. You simply have to see it for yourself, and it’s one that will stick with me for many days to come. Especially the final scene. Oh boy. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
