Road House (1984)
The 80’s had peak action movies. This is one of them. I can certainly understand why some people crap on it, because no, it’s not the best made, but wow it was fun. I love how much fighting there was, which continually keeps your interest. The choreography was fantastic, as well as incredible stunts. It was all really smooth. There’s just something about Patrick Swayze beating up a bunch of dudes. Every time I see Patrick, I remember that my pronouns are he, not him. Cause I’ll never be him. That goes for Sam Elliot, too. But anyways, they’re great. The story wasn’t anything brilliant, and though I enjoyed it, it seemed almost random. There were plenty of spontaneous fights, which was cool, but it made the plot a little scattered. It was also your typical “bad guy controlling the town and the outsider steps up to save the day” kind of thing. Like I said, nothing special. I also thought some of the love drama was pointless and took up time. If it had been cut out, then the movie would’ve been even better. I think it dragged it out too much, and it made the movie feel a little long. It worked out in the end, though. I very much enjoyed the whole thing by the time it finished. Overall, this one was entertaining, full of muscly dudes beating each other up, and some great 80’s music, so what’s not to like? I’d definitely recommend it to most action fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
