Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers
This is in contention for one of the longest movies I’ve ever had to sit through. Seriously. It just went on and on and on, and right when I thought it was gonna wrap up, there was another 30 minutes or something. I think it was because of the story. There was basically nothing new at all, and pretty much just a repeat of the fourth movie. Same characters, same setting, same plot. It just didn’t provide anything new. Yes, it’s cool to see Michael Myers filleting people, but after a while, it gets a little old. The characters in this one were awful, as was most of the acting. And poor Donald Pleasance. They just keep dragging him into all of these. It’s definitely a franchise that keeps trying to ride on previous success, and is starting to fail. The first two sequels with Michael Myers are solid, but at this point, I’m losing hope for the rest of the movies. Let’s hope they can pull themselves out of the hole that this movie dug. Overall, it lacked originality, good characters, and good writing. It was pretty hard to sit through, so I don’t think I’d recommend it, nor watch it again.
