Drive (2011)
Drive
I didn’t realize how good this movie was going into it, and let me tell you, I am so impressed. Not only is it very enjoyable, the movie in itself is well constructed and put together nicely. It almost has a Taxi Driver setting/feel, as well as a little bit similar to Nightcrawler. Honestly, At first, I only watched this for Ryan, but I’m really glad I did, because it’s worth your while. The story was very interesting, as well as entertaining. Although it’s not anything too crazy, the way it was performed was awesome. Like I said, a lot of it felt like Taxi Driver, so it had the same mysterious/psychological vibe to the whole thing. The crime element that the movie has is what helps make it so exciting. One thing I really like about it is how you get to see Driver’s feelings progress and change, as well as his mental state. The movie does a good job of story-telling, even in the breaks between the action. I really, really liked the entire cast of characters. Not only was the acting really good, but watching the characters throughout the whole movie was very intriguing. As I stated before, Driver’s mental state was the key of the movie, and seeing go from one place to another in his mind was a little disturbing, yet cool. I also liked the notable cast, with notable names such as Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Oscar Isaac, and Ron Perlman. Everyone added such a good piece of story to the movie, and it couldn’t have worked without everyone. The action scenes were fantastic, especially the main car chase. The stunts were great, and every scene where Driver was in the car was pretty thrilling. The music was pretty good as well. It used a lot of great songs to help add some twist to the entire movie. Overall, this was a fantastic movie, it's one of my favorite movies of all time, and I’d highly recommend it to all action/crime fans. Plus, there is a great ending that wraps up the movie in an interesting but good way. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
