Saw V (2008)
Saw V
Much like the previous Saw movie, this one wasn’t impressive. I really like being able to learn about Kramer’s past story, but besides that, this wasn’t very good at all. The continuation of the Saw timeline is alright, but at this point, it gets a little confusing. The one nice thing that this movie did was explain some of the deaths of previous characters, and it also showed the explanation behind some of the previous traps. Speaking of traps, the ones in this movie were not super impressive, and they didn’t add to the fun of the movie at all. The movie also does not do a great job of explaining the way that the traps continue even after Kramer’s death. To me, there are so many confusing elements of this movie, and I really had a hard time following who was doing what. The movie kept pulling some moments and scenes from previous Saw movies, which just makes everything seem like a scrambled pile of randomness. The movie kept relying on the previous movies instead of establishing its own story. However, this movie had one of the best endings out of all the Saw movies I’ve seen. I won’t say what it is, and the ending isn’t a cliffhanger or anything, it’s just such a crazy and intense moment. Another great thing was the characters. I was actually a fan of the characters in this movie, when the past few haven’t had great characters. Most of them were fun to watch and see how they progressed, and as I mentioned before, watching Kramer’s past incorporated into the story of this movie was good. Overall, the movie wasn’t too great, and it was confusing and jumbled up. The music also wasn’t impressive one bit. I definitely won’t recommend it.
