Terrifier (2016)
Terrifier
Wow, this was just bad. Horrible. It’s basically just a gore fest, and that’s about it. There wasn’t really anything remotely interesting about this in terms of story and characters. I mean, the obvious highlight of the movie was Art, and I have to admit, he is absolutely terrifying. I’m scared to death to walk out of my room right now, cause I know Art will probably be standing outside my door. I’ve never really been scared of movie clowns (such as Pennywise and other horror icons), but man, Art does it for me. David Howard Thornton does such a great job. However, despite him being horrifically awesome, everything else wasn’t great. It really did feel like the longest 84 minutes I’ve ever spent. Which is funny, cause I usually like this stuff. Unfortunately, this movie just doesn’t cut it. I did enjoy the effects and makeup (all the blood is fun), and like I said, Art is awesome, and his design is terrifying. But the writing was crap, so that kind of weighs it down. I know I keep going back and forth between good and bad, so that’s my fault. Overall, this movie felt super slow, with very little context and a bunch of random junk. There were a couple cool moments, but the majority of it made me want to poke my eyes out. I *might* recommend it if you like scary clowns and torture stuff, but besides that, don’t waste your time with this.
