Cult of Chucky (2017)
Cult of Chucky
Ok, so this is officially the worst Chucky movie out of the whole franchise. Of course, I still have one more to go, but I don’t think it will be as bad as this was. I thought for a second it would be an improvement from the previous movie, but boy was I wrong. It made absolutely zero sense to me, and I found myself losing attention multiple times. The story was a continuation from the previous movie, and I did like the transition between the two movies. It picks up where the other one left off, so you didn’t miss a beat. However, it soon falls apart very quickly. It felt kind of like ‘Joker’ in the sense of having psycho crazy people and delusion. That’s kind of a rough correlation, but still. The characters were actually pretty good, despite them not always being the most likable. It was cool to see Nica again, although I hated what they did with her in the last half. However, Jennifer Tilly returning was super awesome, and she helps bring the (somewhat) old Child’s Play vibe back to these more modern ones. Chucky wasn’t great, despite a good performance from Brad Dourif. Chucky seemed a bit lame in this one, unfortunately. But everyone else was alright. I don’t even wanna think much more about this one, so I’m gonna stop writing. Just know that it wasn’t very good, doesn’t make much sense, and just feels way too out there. It’s definitely the worst of the franchise, so I’d try to stay away from it.
