A Family Affair (2024)
A Family Affair
I didn’t have very big expectations for this movie, so I wasn’t super disappointed, nor was I super pleased. It’s about what I expected. It definitely has its moments where I laughed out loud (mostly from Zac Efron and Joey King), but there were also a couple moments that felt super dull. It was kind of off and on between comedy and random drama. The story was mediocre. I liked the whole theme and setting of movie production, which added some fun background stuff. The main spotlight was on Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman, which to me, didn’t work out that well. I just didn’t see any chemistry between them, and everything felt forced. Therefore, I never really got into the love part of the story. It was whatever. Like I said, the comedy was decent, but that definitely outshined the actual plot. The acting was alright, with some bright shots from Efron and King. Everyone else either seemed random or just plain stale. The soundtrack was pretty good, and one of my favorite parts of the movie. Overall, the movie is underrated, but far from perfect. It has its ups and downs, but by the end, I decently enjoyed it. I don’t think it’s one I’ll necessarily watch again, but I’d still recommend it to most rom-com fans.
