The Avengers

• Arguably the greatest Phase 1 film, I was very impressed by this movie. I knew it was gonna be good before I even watched it, and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Almost every second of this movie had some kind of action or great progression of story, and it keeps you invested the entire time. I seriously enjoyed seeing the Avengers come together for the first time, and watching them team up to fight the greater evil is awesome. I love watching each Avenger being summoned by S.H.I.E.L.D., and their reactions to what their mission was. I loved the overall plot, and seeing Loki’s return was very fun. Tom Hiddleston absolutely kills it, and he is definitely a perfect casting. He literally has one of the most perfect evil aura’s, and he’s quickly becoming one of my favorite comic book movie villains. All the other Avengers continue to be great to watch as well, and for me, especially Tony and Hawkeye. They get me so hyped, and I absolutely love them. The only questionable character for me was Ruffalo as Banner. The shift from Norton to Ruffalo was just a little odd, and it definitely took some time for Ruffalo to grow on me. I love Hulk’s design, and I’d say it's a great equivalent to Norton’s Hulk. There were so many amazing scenes where Hulk absolutely kicks butt, and I loved every second of it. However, there will be no Banner/Hulk who will ever match Bixby/Ferrigno. Anyways, the story is great, and I love how parts of it pick up from First Avenger. It has great antagonists and protagonists. I love how there is a greater villain that remains unseen until (spoiler!) the post-credit scene. It makes me extremely excited for what’s to come, and even though I basically know what happens, I’m still really hyped. I loved the design of the Chitauri and their ships, and it felt very Doctor Who-ish. I also loved the design of the Helicarrier, as well as the smaller aircraft. It’s modern but not too out-there, and they look really sharp. The CGI in this movie is freaking incredible, and even for 2012, it was probably ahead of its time. There were so many scenes that were beautiful to see, as well as some that pretty much blew my mind. The last thing I’ll say is that this is one of the best superhero scores that I’ve ever heard. The Avengers main theme is absolutely insane, and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite superhero themes. It’s intense and powerful, and gives you a fantastic feeling of teamwork and hope. The rest of the score is amazing as well, because it helps give each scene its own unique feel. The music also helps tell the story as well. It’s just so amazingly good. Overall, this movie is really great, and I’d definitely recommend it to all superhero fans. Now, time for some shawarma. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
