The Green Hornet (2011)

The Green Hornet

  • This was a fun but goofy movie. As a kid, I grew up watching the original 1966 Green Hornet series, so I was pretty excited to watch this movie. I was hoping that this would have the old charm of the 60’s show, which it didn’t. The story was fun, and like I said, definitely a bit goofy. That’s the only way the movie reminded me of the old series, because of the cheesiness. It was fun to watch Britt and Kato live their double lives. I loved the characters, as they all added a fun element to the story. Both the protagonists and antagonists were pretty great, and caused a great rivalry on screen. I love the costume design, which was a great copy of the 60’s show. However, despite the great characters, I wasn’t a huge fan of Rogen’s casting. He’s probably one of the last few people I would’ve picked for this role, and I don’t think he fit it well. It was an interesting choice, which I don’t think worked out. However, both Jay Chou and Christoph Waltz make up for it. The music was pretty fun, and though it wasn’t anything too crazy, it added a great heroic feel. All the fight/chase scenes were definitely boosted from the music. Overall, this movie was fun and cheesy, and though there’s definitely been better made movies, the goofiness was entertaining.
