Isle of Dogs (2018)
Isle of Dogs
Coming in as the 30th perfect movie in Berry History, Wes Anderson has once again made one of the best stop motion movies of all time. Although Fantastic Mr. Fox is my favorite of the two, this one is still just as good. The styles of each animal are so brilliantly designed. It’s a diverse selection, with so many different kinds, so it keeps everything fresh. Each dog and human adds a nice little touch to the story. It’s also very easy to get attached to all the animals, as Wes does an awesome job of getting you to sympathize with each one, no matter what their backstory is. The overall story is tragic yet hopeful, and you feel really good by the end. It’s an interesting progression of events, all that lead up to a fun finale. The cast is fantastic, with the works of Murray, Norton, Cranston, Swinton, Goldblum, Johansson, among some other great names. It’s also really fun to pick them out in the movie. The cinematography is so phenomenally good, much like Mr. Fox. Each shot is one that you could hang on a wall. The color, the visuals, the aesthetic, literally everything is perfect. Even the worst looking things are beautiful. And it's unfortunate that because of this movie, Yoko Ono has now had two of her boyfriends assassinated. Also, after watching this, you’ll leave with an unnatural craving for sushi and dog food. Overall, this movie is perfect, and I have absolutely no complaints about it. I’d HIGHLY recommend you go watch it, especially if you love stop motion. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
