Mission: Impossible 2 (2000)
Mission: Impossible 2
Although a smaller step down from the first one, this movie was still pretty good for the second one in the series, and it’s a great action flick from start to finish. I didn’t care for the story that much, and throughout the movie, I found myself getting confused about which characters were which. I thought the plot had a cool concept, I just didn’t find it as fun as the first one. However, the action/fight scenes in this movie completely made up for it. I’d definitely say that the action sequences in this movie were so much better than the first one. They were extremely well shot, and constantly kept your blood pumping. They started with a certain level of intensity that remained consistent until the end. The gunfights were awesome, and that’s one thing that the first movie lacked. Not all action movies need shooting to make them good, but the gunfights in this movie were super epic. Although it has its fair share of a slow and strategic storyline, the last 30 or so minutes are almost completely fighting, explosions, and blood, which I find awesome. There were definitely some moments that would never happen at all in real life, but besides those, most of it seems pretty realistic. All the characters were pretty good, and you know Tom was really good, yet again. Like I said before, I had trouble remembering which characters were which, but they were all portrayed well. The score was alright, and though definitely a step down from the first movie, there were some scenes where juxtaposition of the music with the shot was really great. It still had the same main theme, although it was revamped and given more of a rock feel, which I didn’t like. This music kind of lost its espionage sound in this film, but it was still decent. The last thing I’ll mention is my favorite shot. Ethan has a pistol in each hand, and he jumps out of a hole and the building and begins to free fall. It was a breathtaking shot with the city and lights in the background, and it was freaking cool. Anyways, this was a good movie, and I’d recommend it. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
