Stay (2005)
Stay
First off, even though this isn’t the best movie ever made, it’s definitely underrated. There’s definitely some weak spots, but I don’t understand how it only has a 26% on Rotten Tomatoes. To me, it feels like Daddy Gosling’s version of Donnie Darko, which makes sense if you’ve seen both movies. I spent the whole time questioning what was real or fake. Much like movies such as Donnie Darko or Joker, the line between fantasy and reality is blurred, so it gives you a chance to figure it out for yourself. The story was pretty good, though like I said, it definitely has room for improvement. I did really like the transitions, even though some were a bit corny and very obviously edited. It really gives off the vibe of an early 2000’s movie. Ewan McGregor did a decent job, and of course, Daddy Gosling was fantastic. He’s just so good at being a sigma male, and so much of his acting comes from just his face and eyes. I did enjoy the soundtrack as well. Overall, this movie was solid, and pretty enjoyable. I’d recommend it, especially if you love drama/psychological thrillers.
