Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Wonder Woman 1984
Ok. So let me clear things up. This is the sequel to Wonder Woman, and it’s definitely a step down. When I first watched it, I absolutely hated it, even more so than Josstice League. In fact, it was one of the very few movies on my hit list. However, upon a rewatch, I have discovered that I harshly misjudged this movie. It’s still not super great, but I actually liked it the second time. So, all that being said, this is a fun and somewhat silly movie. It’s not what I would’ve wanted for a Wonder Woman sequel. I liked the story, but it feels so much more…lighter. It’s a huge contrast from the first one, tone-wise. You go from (somewhat) dark and gritty, to colorful and lighthearted. Now, there are still some serious moments, but the whole thing is very comic book-y. I still love Diana in this one, and her suit is pretty sweet. It’s a bit more vivid than the first movie, which I actually like. Pedro Pascal is perfect for Max Lord, and he’s easily one of the spotlights of the movie. Life is good, but it can be better. I also semi-like Kristen Wiig, although most of her performance just doesn’t feel right. Plus, her Cheetah look is pretty horrible. But she’s still somewhat funny. Steve Trevor’s return didn’t need to happen, but I’m still glad it did. And, last but not least, Lynda freaking Carter. That’s all I’ll say. Regarding effects, there are several iffy moments, some that you laugh at, but still some that are good. The score was awesome, although it definitely doesn’t have the same feel as BvS or Wonder Woman. Overall, this movie isn’t great, but much better than I remember it being.
