Creature Commandos (Season 1) (2024-2025)
Creature Commandos (Season 1)
What an unbelievable start to the DCU. James Gunn is one of the most talented writers and directors of comic book media right now, so I had zero doubts that this show would be fantastic. Every expectation I had was pretty much broken. There was only one big kink in the show, which was that it feels way too much like ‘The Suicide Squad’. Both projects have a very similar format, in terms of Waller recruiting villains to fight the bigger bad guy. Same structure, but different characters and settings. Besides that, this show is absolutely awesome, with unfamiliar characters that I got to be introduced to in an amazing way. I had never heard of G.I. Robot, Dr. Phosphorus, and others. Learning about each of them throughout each episode was extremely entertaining and emotional. Despite these crooks doing bad things, you still learn to absolutely love them and root for them. Which sounds weird to say, but you can’t help but be on their side. The voice actors and actresses did a knockout job, and made each character unique in their own way. The character designs were also extremely well done and helped add so much personality to each one. The music was really well made, with the needle drops that were expertly placed, and an opening theme that I never ever skipped. Lastly, the animation was some of the best I’ve seen in any DC animation project ever. It was colorful, smooth, detailed, and graphic in the best ways possible. I just loved the vibrance of the blood against the characters, and the absolute brutality of the violence. Yes, I sound like a psycho. But it’s fun! Overall, this season was superb, with almost zero faults. Plus, there’s some really epic glimpses into the future of the DCU, and I’m super excited to see how it sets up future storylines. I’d recommend this season to ALL DC fans, whether you support the new DCU or not. This season is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now! In Gunn We Trust!
