A Quiet Place (2018)
A Quiet Place
Holy crap. I have no words. I have absolutely no idea why I waited this long to watch this movie. It’s easily one of the best horror movies I’ve ever watched, as well as it being one of my new favorite horrors of all time. John Krasinski directed the absolute crap out of this. When he does a horror movie, he does it RIGHT. The concept is so simple, yet so suspenseful and thrilling. At first I figured that a horror flick where the majority of it is about being quiet wouldn’t be too bad, but boy was I wrong. I mean, the first real spoken words didn’t even happen till 40 minutes in, yet the movie was still so loud. You know when it’s just so quiet that it actually hurts? It’s like that. Some scenes have some haunting music, whereas others are completely silent and you can almost hear your own heart. I know I did. The story just sucks you straight in and keeps you hooked to the very end. I couldn’t peel my eyes away from the screen. Like I said, it’s so simple, yet so full of detail. It leaves you with so many questions, but in a good way. Of course, the cliffhanger ending leaves you reaching for more, and I’m so excited to watch the second one. The cast also helps the intensity of the movie. The two duos of this movie were so strong: Krasinski/Blunt, and Simmonds/Jupe. Despite the lack of words, there is SO much emotion portrayed. It was truly one of a kind. The only reason this film has a 99% Movie Score is because there were a couple miniscule details that didn’t make sense, but besides those, this movie is just about perfect. Lastly, the designs of the creatures in this movie were so awesome, and easily some of the coolest monsters I’ve seen in ant movie. Those things go HARD. Overall, this movie is freaking phenomenal, and I know this is one that will be rewatched several more times. I’d HIGHLY recommend it to all horror/thriller fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
