Andor (Season 1) (2022)
Andor (Season 1)
Cassian Andor wouldn’t have been the first character choice to make a series about, but I’m glad that they did. He never necessarily had a prominent role in the Star Wars universe (obviously except for Rogue One), but that makes him an even better choice. It’s nice to have a character that you know very little about, because it makes it more fun and interesting to learn about their origin and backstory. I have always liked Cassian since seeing Rogue One, so even though I was skeptical about this series at first, the writers did a great job with giving him a great story. The first 3 episodes of this series were fantastic, and I always love watching a character on the run. However, the middle chunk of this series just felt boring to me, and even though it was written well, I just felt that it lacked some pizzazz. The characters that were introduced and used were really great, and this show has a very small amount of bad characters. Everybody has a piece to play, and they all fit together beautifully. Although I found the middle episodes somewhat boring and a bit of a drag, the last 4 episodes made up for it. I really enjoyed the story of Cassian being stuck in the Imperial prison, and I was especially loved when Andy “The 🐐” Serkis showed up. He did a great job like always, which is no surprise to anyone. Both he and Cassian stole the spotlight for a few episodes, and I seriously enjoyed the “escape the prison” storyline. The season finale was extremely good, and I’d say it’s one of the best season finales I’ve seen in a long time. It does a great job of showing the evils of the empire, as well as the strength of rebellion. A minor detail I absolutely loved in the season finale was the marching band. It was really cool to see an actual band that isn’t the Modal Nodes or the Max Rebo Band. It’s the small things like that that makes the show great. Plus, I absolutely lost it when the post-credit scene played. It was unexpected and terrifyingly awesome, and I am really hyped to see if it leads anywhere in Season 2. Overall, this was a well made show, and I would recommend it to all Star Wars fans. This season is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
