All Hallows' Eve (2013)
All Hallows’ Eve
I don’t think this movie is as bad as it’s made out to be, based on Rotten Tomatoes and Letterboxd movies. It’s certainly nothing amazing, and doesn’t really come close to being “good”, but there were some moments that were pretty gnarly. I like anthology movies, so I was pleased to learn that this was a compilation of horror shorts. I’ve seen tons of horror shorts, some good and some bad. The ones included in this movie were somewhat decent. The first and third one, with Art the Clown, were solid, though the second one was just bad and goofy. I think the movie should’ve kept the whole thing about Art, just so it flows better and keeps the pacing good. The low budget tone of the movie was also kind of nice, although in some ways it makes the whole thing seem like a crappy home video. Which is what a lot of it technically was. All the characters were kind of bad, and the acting was about the same as a middle school play. No offense to middle schoolers. The gore in this movie was fun, especially with the third short film. It sets the mood for the following Terrifier movies. Although I’ve seen the first feature length Terrifier, and wasn’t a huge fan, I'm still excited to watch the rest. Art the Clown is iconic, cruel, and creepy. Overall, this movie was clearly a low budget effort, which I respect, and I like how it showcases horror shorts that connect the main babysitter to those movies. But, it falls short of being a good movie, in several departments. I don’t think I’d watch it again, nor would I recommend it unless you’re a fan of ‘Terrifier’ or Art the Clown.
