The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
So this movie was pretty much dog crap to me. It was so insanely boring, and I spent a good chunk of it on Twitter because I couldn’t pay attention. Although the story was great, and it’s presented in a unique way, I just couldn’t stand it. It didn’t feel like it was going anywhere at all. Usually I’m a fan of a courtroom drama, but this one just moved so slow. It felt a lot like The Exorcist, and the exorcism scenes didn’t feel original. However, the great part of the movie was the story surrounding Emily’s exorcism. It actually takes her case to trial, which is something I’ve never seen in a horror movie. It’s not just a movie for scares, but it actually dives into the legal side of it. That part of it was cool, but like I said, it felt super long and drawn out. I didn’t care for any of the characters either. Although the acting was decent, none of them struck me as memorable. Nothing about them stood out at all. The music wasn’t super great, although there were a couple bits that I enjoyed. Some parts of it had the classic horror sound, though as a whole, the score wasn’t impressive at all. The effects in this movie were also not impressive. Some moments were pretty good, but all the rest pretty much sucked. Overall, I wouldn’t watch this again, and I wouldn’t recommend it either.
