A Clockwork Orange (1971)
A Clockwork Orange
This is probably the strangest and weirdest movie I think I’ve ever seen. It was just downright weird. A huge chunk of this movie doesn’t really make much sense at all, as Kubrick shot this movie in a very unique way. Because of its unique production and story, this movie is pretty good, even though I couldn’t stand it. The story was very original, although it definitely takes some time to get to. The entire first half of the movie was extremely boring to me, and nothing remotely interesting really happened. The entire first half pretty much set up the last half, which is why it felt so drawn out. But, about halfway through the movie, that’s where I got invested. The most intriguing part of the plot occurs there, and goes on for some time. I did like how the story evolved from there. But, it continues to stay confusing all throughout, which is why I am not a fan of this movie. Even at the very end, there were so many different parts I didn’t understand, and the ending left me confused. But like I said, the storyline is so unique in its own way, that it can still be interesting. I absolutely hated almost all the characters, as they were all annoying and painful to watch. The acting was great, and the characters were mostly well written, but I was just annoyed and bored by them. However, one thing I did really like was the soundtrack. It was absolutely phenomenal, and a lot of classical music was used, which I loved. You had songs like the William Tell Overture, as well as a lot of Beethoven. It added to the strange feel of the music, as well as a lot of juxtaposition. Overall, I know I wouldn’t watch this again, but if you happen to like disturbing dramas, then I’d probably recommend it.
