• Although I still think the first Creed is (barely) the best of the three, this one is definitely my favorite. There is a lot I want to say about it, but since it’s a new release, I’ll try to keep it (somewhat) short. I really loved the main storyline, and the continuation of the characters is nice. I think this one reminds me of a combination of Rocky 3 and 5 (and a touch of 4). Although it reminds me of those, it still stands out as its own unique movie. There was one big thing that kind of ticked me off about the movie, but I can’t really say what it is for spoiler reasons. Let’s just say it involves a certain character I really care about. Speaking of the characters, I really enjoyed all the performances, especially Adonis and Dame. Both MBJ and Majors did a ridiculously good job. Their love/hate relationship is perfect for the story, which is what makes it so unique. The final fight scene was also one of the best fights in the entire Rocky franchise. It gives you so much insight not just into the physical fight, but the mental/internal fights. The music was pretty good, though I wasn’t a huge fan of rap. It fit the time and setting well, but I just don’t like rap. Also, the use of “Going the Distance” at the end keeps the Rocky spirit alive. Overall, this movie was absolutely fantastic. I would highly recommend it to all sports/boxing fans. It was just so awesome, and a beautiful and very special theater experience. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
