• Is this movie stupid? Yes. Is it dumb? Yes. Is it totally unrealistic? For the most part. But is it fun and extremely entertaining? HECK YES IT IS. To those of you who say this movie sucks, or it’s basically a rip off of Jaws, then you can be quiet. It’s nothing like Jaws, apart from the obvious giant shark. I just love the whole action and suspense element of the movie. The setting also feels pretty realistic. It’s not crazy and futuristic (even though there is advanced technology), which I like. The explanation of the meg’s existence and actions are well written, though it doesn’t seem like anything that would ever happen. That we know of. The whole story is great like that. The characters are pretty great, and everybody is likable. Jason Statham is Jason Statham, as we’d all expect. His action scenes are great. Rainn Wilson is also hilarious, and the way they wrote his character is superb. They basically recreated an American billionaire, from the clothes to his controversial actions. The CGI is also extremely on point in this movie. The meg looks so cool, and though it’s obviously not real, it feels like it could be. Overall, this movie is absolutely awesome, though it’s dumb and corny sometimes. I’d definitely recommend it to all action/adventure fans, especially if you like big ol’ sharks.
