Johnny English Strikes Again (2018)

Johnny English Strikes Again

  • The third movie of this series, it was hilarious and fun to watch. Rowan Atkinson finishes the job as Johnny English very well, and he;s definitely one of the best secret agents ever put on the movie screen. Even in his older age, he still has the same charismatic-attempting persona, as well as his usual clumsy self. I liked what they did with his character, and it was a good way to show how much he loves his job. I really love how they brought back Ben Miller as Bough, and although I was disappointed that Daniel Kaluuya didn’t reprise his role, I was ecstatic when Bough returned. He was such an awesome character in the first movie, so getting the duo of him and English was so fun. All the characters in this movie were great, especially Emma Thompson and Jake Lacy. They fit their roles really well, and Lacy fits the nerdy but powerful villain role. The story was decent, and although it wasn’t necessarily original, I liked the way it made the “take over the world” story unique. It gave it a somewhat fresh spin, although it definitely felt like every other spy/espionage movie. There were a few scenes where the movie definitely could’ve stepped up its action and plot. There were also a few scenes that were pretty well thought of, especially the VR scene. Although many of them were dumb and corny. It was still entertaining. The movie capped off the series in a pretty good way, and it has a great ending. Although cheesy and spoofy, this movie overall was pretty decent. I’d recommend it if you like the previous two movies, or comedic action movies.
