Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (2010)
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole
The only reason I watched this is so I could get my dose of Zack Snyder, and needless to say, he once again out-performed. I don’t know how he does it, but he just becomes more and more genius with every movie of his I see. I’m normally not a huge fan of animated films about animals, so I was skeptical going in. But, all my expectations were blown away, and I’m super glad I saw this. In fact, it’s quickly become one of my favorite animated movies I’ve seen. This movie had such a great story, characters, music, and effects. After seeing this, I’m feeling very Zacktivated, and I still can’t get over the fantastic job he did. I never thought I would get into a movie about talking owls, but you’d be surprised how interesting the story is. It follows the characters in an awesome way, as well as constantly having unique storytelling. There is also a great message in the movie. It teaches you the importance of sticking together, as well as helping each other and staying united. Family is of importance in this movie, which is always heart-warming to watch. I was really satisfied when the movie ended, and it leaves you with a great feeling of contentment. Every single character in this one is fantastic and well written, which is rare for movies nowadays. Every one adds a special personality and spark to the movie, as well as completing the movie like a puzzle. Their animation is freaking fantastic, and I can easily say this is some of the best animation I’ve seen in an animated film. The colors are so beautiful, which helps give this movie the great feel it is. There are SO many gorgeous shots, and all the owls are really well designed as well. They all have their own unique personalities and looks. I really like how you can see all the emotion in their faces, which personifies them in an awesome way. For several scenes, their faces and reactions tell the story. The music was extremely good, and it had a great heroic and courageous feel. Many parts of it actually reminded me of a superhero movie, which I enjoyed. It felt so energetic and powerful, and David Hirschfelder did such a beautiful job. Overall, this movie was so fun, as well as having its serious moments and deeper meanings. Even if you think this is a kids movie, I would still watch it if I were you. There’s so many cool details, as well as a really visually pleasing movie with astonishing animations and effects. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
