Casino Royale (2006)

Casino Royale

  • This is the first of five James Bond films starring Daniel Craig, and it’s arguably the best of the five. It provides plenty of action and fight scenes, as well as a great story of espionage. I didn’t know what to expect when I first started watching it, but within the first few minutes, I was immediately hooked. It introduced 007 in a really cool way, and I loved the intro of the movie. The story as a whole was great, and it keeps you sucked in the whole time. Every scene of the movie adds something fun and interesting to the plot. I always love a good spy movie, and this movie absolutely delivers. It doesn’t go the way you expect, which is exactly what I like. All the characters were awesome, and the acting was superb. I really love Daniel as 007, which I figured I would. He brings a certain charisma to the role, as well as being totally ripped. Connery is still my favorite, and absolutely no one will ever be able to beat his performance. However, Daniel still kills it, and I’m really excited to see more of him. I was also really impressed with Mads Mikkelsen. He always does a great job, especially as a villain. He brings the same evil persona in this film, and I truly enjoyed his character. The score was absolutely phenomenal, and I really enjoyed it. The entire score added a suspenseful feel to the movie, especially in the poker scene. The music was pretty constant as well, which I found nice. The main theme was absolutely gorgeous, and I’d easily say that it’s one of the best themes ever written. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of its presence in the film, and you only heard it at the end. But, when it played, it was awesome, and I love it so much. The action sequences were extremely great, and all of them were very well shot. They were all intense and entertaining, and several of the scenes reminded me of the old Bond films (obviously) and some of the Mission: Impossible scenes. There were a lot of great practical effects used, which made the movie feel even more intense. Overall, this was a great movie, and a very strong start to the Daniel Craig era. I would definitely recommend it to action/spy fans, and I can’t wait to see more. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
