Anyone But You (2023)
Anyone But You
I’m not entirely sure why I decided to go see this one. I like romance, and I like comedy, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I’ve never been a huge fan of rom-coms, but this one was actually pretty decent. It’s definitely not anything groundbreaking or super memorable, but it had its moments. I liked the story, which was about the opposite of most rom-coms I’ve seen. It was pretty predictable, but it still did a solid job of keeping my attention. There was a great combination of romance and comedy (duh). It had its sweet moments, but you also get plenty of chances to laugh. Despite all that, some of it was very stupid and cliche. Although I liked it, I definitely can’t say it was perfectly written. The cast did a good job, although there were some people that seemed very stale and dull. I love Glen Powell, so my bias makes me say he was awesome, but Sydney Sweeney seemed very stone faced a lot of the time. She didn’t seem like she had too much emotion. Overall, this is one of my least favorite movies of 2023, but I still liked it for the most part. I’d probably recommend it if you like rom-coms.
