Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004)
Kill Bill Vol. 2
Yes, I do think this a teensy step down from the first Kill Bill (even though they were technically meant to be one movie), but it was still masterfully made by the genius himself, Quentin Tarantino. I saw a great Letterboxd comment saying that the action in this movie is the dialogue. That’s very true, and in Tarantino style, it’s dialogue that drives the story forward, and keeps you sucked in. It builds the characters, provides information, and just gives you a good time. It’s actually very interesting how these movies worked out. The first one is mostly bloody action, whereas this one is driven by words rather than violence. There are still some really great action scenes, especially the chapter with Elle vs Beatrix. I would love to see the four hour cut of this movie, to figure out how it all plays out in one continuous flow. Seeing these in the complete form would be awesome, and I would honestly enjoy it more than way. Not that it’s bad how it is now. Anyways, this movie is a good conclusion to Beatrix’s story. You get enough background information via flashbacks and explanations to truly understand the full scheme of things. You get to see a huge amount of Bill (who I honestly came to like, even though he was ultimately a major loser). The ending was super wholesome and heartwarming. The writing just gets you right in the feels. Overall, this movie is fantastically made, and though I enjoyed the first one more, this one was still good, and a nice watch. I’d recommend it to all Tarantino/action/thriller fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
