The Boys (Season 1) (2019)
The Boys (Season 1)
I knew this show would be amazing, but wow, I was still super impressed. I was so absorbed in this season more than pretty much any show I’ve seen, except for Invincible, Breaking Bad, and The Flash. Every single second has some kind of importance or detail to pay attention to. It keeps you on your toes, with fresh developments and awesome story progression. As a huge superhero fan, I love seeing the whole corruption thing get tackled in this show. I won’t say exactly what I mean for spoiler reasons, but if you’ve seen this, then you know. All I’ll say is that the show takes ethics and corporations, and throws those right in the spotlight. It’s just so intriguing, and makes you ask questions that you’ve never really asked yourself when it comes to superheroes. Of course, throw in the incredibly talented cast, and then you basically get pure insanity. Going into the show, I thought it was basically about Homelander. However, in many ways, it’s all about Hughie, which made me really happy. I’ve always loved Jack Quaid, but this season alone has certainly cemented him as one of my favorite actors ever. All the performances are so solid. The line deliveries are great, the emotion is well presented, and the stunts are great too. Each and every character adds something important. I love all the suits, especially (and obviously) Homelander. Antony Starr is just so good. So is Karl Urban and Jack. In a couple ways, this show reminds me of Watchmen, as well as Peacemaker. So, if you like those, you’d most definitely like this one. I’d highly recommend it to all superhero fans. This season is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
