How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
This is definitely one of the most nostalgic Christmas shorts for me. Probably for most people. I can remember watching this basically every December for who knows how long. It started in kindergarten, all the way through primary and elementary school, and I haven’t stopped since. Every time I put it on, I get such a nice warm feeling. Hearing Boris Karloff (who woulda thought?) narrating this movie is just perfect. It’s one of those movies where the narration doesn’t get annoying, considering most of it is indeed narrated. The animation is incredible as well. So full of color and light, with big bright spots that contrast nicely with some darker tones. Man, I love it. The Grinch’s design is animated beautifully as well. Obviously, the original design came from Dr. Seuss’s book, but the Grinch’s facial expressions are just awesome. Plus, Max is really cute. My only complaint is my age. Now that I’m in my 20’s, there’s a few little spots that I get a little tired of, but besides that, this is perfect. It’s a weird complaint, but valid. Overall, this short is very fun to watch, with a great message, colorful animation, and bouncy yet sentimental music. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
