The Lego Batman Movie (2017)
The Lego Batman Movie
Here it is, another perfect Lego movie (and another perfect Batman movie). It’s definitely my favorite Lego movie out there, and it’ll be extremely hard to beat. Ever since I first understood the concept of Batman, I was immediately obsessed. Even still. If you know me, you know how much I love Batman. I also have a huge passion for Lego, so mixing those two together is perfect. I love the amount of references and characters that this movie holds. I said in my review for ‘The Lego Movie’ that that movie was the multiverse of Lego characters. Well, this one is the multiverse of Lego villains. It has everyone from Lord Voldemort to the Daleks to the Eye of Sauron to King Kong. Of course, that also includes basically every villain in Batman’s rogue gallery. It’s the greatest villain team up in the history of cinema. And that’s what's so great about the story, because it looks at Batman and Joker’s relationship, and then the hero and villain team ups. It’s funny yet serious, and the way it takes itself dramatically while still being a comedy is beautiful. The voice acting was phenomenal, to no one’s surprise. Will Arnett is absolutely my favorite animated version of Batman. No disrespect at all to Kevin Conroy, Jason O’Mara, or Diedrich Bader. But Arnett takes the cake for me. He’s got the stereotypical deep Batman voice that is played for laughs. The line deliveries are absolutely great, especially his laugh. Everyone else is great, especially Ralph Fiennes, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, Zach Galifianakis, and a million more. Perfection. The animation is perfect as well. Everything is so smooth and seamless, with great attention to detail. The minifigure and costumes were designed so gorgeously. Like I said earlier, the references to previous Batman films are great (and the special love for ‘66 Batman makes me happy). Overall, this movie is one of the most perfect movies ever, and I’d recommend it to all superhero fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
