Watchmen: Chapter II (2024)
Watchmen: Chapter II
A fitting end to a very strong and entertaining two part adaptation of one of the greatest comics of all time, if not THE greatest of all time. I have been very well versed with Watchmen media. I’ve read the comic, watched the motion comic, these two animated features, and of course, Snyder’s adaptation. I still have a couple longer cuts to see of the live action one, and the HBO show, but I’m getting there. Anyways, I don’t think I enjoyed this film quite as much as the first one, though I still really, really liked it. It’s on the same level as the first one in terms of being well made. They’re both on the same level, and they would be great to watch back-to-back. The transition between the two is very smooth, and this one picks up where the first leaves off. The story obviously then continues, and it’s a fun but tough ride all the way until the end. Tough as in “getting emotionally invested and watching everything unfold”. But yeah, the story is great, and stays true to the original comic. The animation is very colorful and detailed, while still feeling down to earth and realistic. The character designs are absolutely perfect, again staying true to the comic. The voice acting is insanely good, especially from Troy Baker. That man kills it every single time. Overall, this film is a great conclusion, and though I like the first one the best, it’s still amazing and I’m so glad to have been able to watch these. There'll definitely be some Blu ray purchases in the near future. I’d recommend this to all DC/superhero fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
