Justice League Dark (2017)
Justice League Dark
Unfortunately, this is probably my least favorite entry in the DCAU. That being said, I still liked it a fair amount. It had a very different feel than all the others, and that’s mostly because this dealt with magic and demons and the supernatural. It’s just very different from the other DCAU movies. Now, some of the others have magic/supernatural elements in them, such as Trigon, but this one was solely centered around those things. No that that’s a bad thing, it just kind of catches you off guard. I do like the plot and how it dips into the side of DC superheroes and villains that you don’t always see. It’s a cool change, but not one I was that big a fan of. I know I sound really negative right now, but that’s the only thing I have to complain about. Everything else about the movie was pretty good. It introduces several characters that you may not have heard of, or aren’t often shown in DC movies or shows. You get to see Constantine and Swamp Thing, which was really cool. It does a great job of expanding the character list, and now you can say you’ve seen those characters in something. Of course, the animation helps them out too. In terms of color and designs, this is easily one of the best DCAU films. The amount of vibrancy that this has is so beautiful. WB Animation seriously doesn’t fail. So to wrap this up, this movie is well made, although it takes a more creative turn than others. It can be both a good and bad thing. I’d recommend it to all superhero/animation fans.
