Viva Las Vegas (1964)
Viva Las Vegas
Probably known as Elvis’s most famous and popular movie, I definitely thought this was the best Elvis movie made, and even though I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would, it was still pretty good. The opening song “Viva Las Vegas” really hooks you into the movie straight from the start, which was nice. Overall the music was great, and there are two certain songs I want to point out: the first one was when Elvis was checking out the different clubs, and it was an absolutely beautiful arrangement of “You Stepped Out of a Dream” It’s such a beautiful song, and it had a really good string section the accompanied the main melody. The second song was “I Need Somebody to Lean On”, which in my opinion, is the most beautifully sung song by Elvis. It’s such a perfectly written song, with a slow jazzy feel, and it has a Sinatra sound to it, which Elvis was able to replicate in his own way. It also gives you such a sentimental feel, which is why I love it so much. Anyways, the rest of the acting was pretty good, and the ending race scene was really well shot. Overall, I’d probably watch this one again, and I would definitely recommend it.
